Aerospace and Space Sciences

September 27, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Global Kashmiri Connect

Aerospace encompasses a vast array of disciplines, including the design and development of commercial and military aircraft, satellites, rockets, spacecraft, and space biology. The industry focuses on planes, helicopters, drones, and the complexities of space exploration and technology. Space Sciences cover diverse topics such as space vehicles, launch systems, lunar, solar, and planetary science, astronomy, astrophysics, and life sciences. These fields are now booming, with a growing demand for skilled professionals in engineering, astronomy, data science, communication systems engineering, space biology, robotics engineering, and more.

The Global Kashmiri Connect proudly presents Ms. Faiqa Anbreen, Seerat Maqsood, and Malik Aasooda (Asu), three young scholars of Kashmiri origin, who are advancing their careers in Aerospace and Space Sciences. They are committed to exploring these fields early in their academic careers and will share their stories and learnings with students and young professionals. They are our Global Kashmiris in Aerospace and Space Sciences!

Join Altaf Lal and Mahrukh (Mahi) Banday in a free-flowing conversation with Ms. Faiqa, Asu, and Seerat on Aerospace and Space Sciences. Listen to them and become inspired to advance your academic career in this booming field. Start your own journey in becoming Aerospace and Space scientists and be part of this exciting industry.

Seerat Maqsood

Seerat Maqsood is focusing her studies on life sciences, especially in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology. She has done her schooling at Eaglets Public School, Bandipora, and GHSS, Amira Kadal, Srinagar. She subsequently completed her bachelor’s degree in general biotechnology from the Dolphin Institute, Dehradun, India. She is now a Space IVF researcher at SpaceBorn United and an active member of NASA GeneLab. Involved in multiple space bioscience and exploration projects, her expertise is in reproductive medicine and tissue engineering. Her vision is to enable human reproduction in space by improving IVF techniques on Earth. She is also involved in multiomics, studying the effects of radiation, cosmic rays, and genetic changes on human astronauts in space.

Faiqa Anbreen

Faiqa Anbreen is a Modelling and Simulation Engineer at Safran, solving complex engineering problems and analyzing thermo-fluid behavior of aircraft systems and components. She has done her schooling at DPS Srinagar. Intrigued by space travel early on in her life, she is a PhD candidate in Engineering and Computational Mathematics at California State University, with research focused on solving fundamental problems of physics in fluids, which has applications in the aerospace industry.

Malik Aasooda

Malik Aasooda is an analog astronaut and a researcher in Physics at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland. A student of Minto Circle School, Srinagar, she calls her early educational years extremely transformative. She pursued her bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from SSM College of Science and Technology and a master’s in Computer Aided Mechanical and Power Engineering from Politechnika Wroclawska. Raised with an innate fascination for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), she embarked on a journey of intellectual discovery from an early age. A space enthusiast, she aims to bridge the gap between Physics and Philosophy.

These fields are now booming, and we need more Kashmiris to become part of this profession; to innovate and discover new knowledge and technologies, and become global leaders in Aerospace and Space Sciences.
