Amjad Khan
Enterprise Software Sales Management

Amjad Khan has over 3 decades of diversified experience in the areas of enterprise software sales management, infrastructure, business productivity, security, business continuity, networking, storage, database management, business intelligence, enterprise incentive compensation and project management. As the Area Lead for Modern Workplace and AI at Microsoft in Dubai, Amjad leads a team across the Middle East responsible for helping businesses to digitally transform their organizations by leveraging technology to empower their employees to do their best work.

Since joining Microsoft in 2006 in New York, Amjad has held various positions across Enterprise Sales and Global Partner Solutions teams both in the US as well as in Middle East & Africa. Amjad is known for creating high performance teams and building a culture of inclusiveness and accountability within his teams. Amjad holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications engineering and a master’s degree in computer science from City University in New York. Amjad started his schooling at Presentation Convent, then transferred to Burn Hall school where he completed his matriculation. After 2 years of high school at DAV school, Amjad enrolled in REC Srinagar, where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication engineering.

Junaid Mohammed
Senior Technology Leader

Junaid Mohammed is a Senior Technology Leader with around 2 decades of experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Product Management, Large Deal Enablement & Enterprise Tech Stack modernization across industry verticals. In his current role at Google, Junaid is leading a Global team of Solution Architects leading large deals across industry verticals for Strategic Clients in the GenAI & Startup ecosystem. Junaid is a technologist at heart and is passionate about empowering the younger generation across the economic spectrum with cutting edge technological skills and knowledge, thereby bridging educational disparities. Junaid did his schooling from Burn Hall in Srinagar, holds a Computer Engineering degree from Pune University & completed his MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Manzoor Ahmad Chachoo
AI expert

Manzoor Chachoo is a distinguished AI expert known for his contributions to the field of artificial intelligence in Kashmir. He did his early schooling from the Minto Circle School Srinagar. He did Masters from BITS Pilani, and MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Kashmir in Spoken Dialogue Systems. He is a dedicated computer science educator working as a Scientist D at University of Kashmir with a specialization in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). He brings a wealth of knowledge and industry experience to his role. Dr Manzoor is known for his dynamic teaching style and innovative curriculum development. His courses on AI and ML are highly sought after by students eager to explore the cutting-edge advancements in these fields. He has spearheaded research at the intersection of deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.

Beyond the classroom, Dr Manzoor is actively involved in research, with a focus on developing practical applications of AI and ML for real-world problems. His work has been published in top-tier academic journals and presented at prestigious conferences. Dr Manzoor’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment is evident in his mentorship of students from diverse backgrounds. With his passion for teaching, research excellence, and dedication to promoting diversity, he is a respected figure in the computer science community, inspiring the next generation of AI and ML enthusiasts.

Samar Khan
Cloud and AI Technology Leader

Samar Khan has over 20 years of broad experience in developing, delivering, and maintaining mission critical software in multiple industries. Sustainability, Cloud and AI Technology Leader in Travel & Hospitality Industry. Samar started TripAI in 2021 with a core focus on using AI to help optimize many industries (Aviation, Hospitality and RV Industry). Samar is a graduate of the 3 Tyndale Biscoe school in Srinagar where he was actively involved in Football and captained the school and state teams. In 1999, Samar relocated to US after receiving an Honors Scholarship and completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and MBA from SMU Dallas. He is an expert in building Offshore, Nearshore Teams for US Corporations for over a decade in multiple countries.

Muzafar Rasool
AI, IT in Surgery and Medical Research

Muzafar Rasool holds a master’s degree in mathematics and a master’s in computer applications, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence. With nearly two decades of teaching and research experience at IUST, he has also been a founding member of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the coordinator for the Centre of Excellence at CIED, IUST. Additionally, He has organized several international conferences in Kashmir, including AI, IT in Surgery and Medical Research at GMC Srinagar and ICAIMLIS 2023 at IUST.

His research primarily focuses on building and advancing the theoretical foundations of AI, while simultaneously applying AI in practical contexts, particularly in Human Health, Agriculture, and Horticulture, as well as more broadly in AI and Society. With over 40 international publications in the field of AI and more than a dozen patents, he has made significant contributions to both theory and practice. He has secured research grants from prominent national agencies such as DST, ICMR, and SERB, and collaborates internationally with research collaborators from the USA, Canada, Qatar, and other countries.

His research has led to successful interventions in various sectors, including horticulture, agriculture, and local indigenous products such as Pashmina, carpet (Qaleen), and Saffron. Notable achievements include developing AI-enabled products for disease diagnosis in apples, authenticating genuine Pashmina and Qaleen against counterfeits, and instantly identifying genuine Kashmiri saffron against Spanish and Iranian varieties. Additionally, he has made significant contributions to human health by developing early diagnosis methods for Alzheimer’s disease, metastasis in esophageal/Head and Neck cancer, and other conditions in collaboration with researchers from the Watson and Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine in Kashmir and DigiBiomics in Canada.

The AI and ML fields are booming, and we need more Kashmiris to join the professional workforce and become Global Leaders in this space at academic and industrial levels.
